Happy New Year! The next Music Booster meeting is on Tuesday, February 9th in the BHS music room.  Join us and find out what's going on, get acquainted and share your ideas and talents.  It's a good group!

Our infamous Spaghetti Dinner is back by popular demand and if you are reading this, you are invited!  Come join us on Saturday January 23rd from 5-9pm, in the Ballard Commons, (lunchroom).  Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for performers and kids 12 and under.  Buy a ticket from a Music Student, and they will receive 80% of the price towards their student account.  All instrumental and vocal groups perform at this event, which is the only time you can hear all musical groups at one time!  In addition to dinner, you will have the opportunity to purchase a yummy dessert from the bake sale, stock up on our Ballard Beaver coffee, and take a change on being the highest bidder in our 1st ever Spaghetti Dinner silent auction!  Food, entertainment, company...how can you say no!

Thanks to Kathleen Spaulding for managing the successful Barnes and Noble fundraiser.  Kathleen wanted to thank eight people in particular for their help with the event:  Mary G., Deb R., Kippy, Michael, Fran K., Armelle O., Chris B., and Sue R..  Kathleen reported that last year we had about $9000 in sales from the event and disbursement to Music Boosters was 15%.  This year, we topped $11,000, and our disbursement was 20%, or $2283.

SUCCESSFUL SWING DANCE!  Wow, what a great event and a lot of fun.  Mr. James and Ms. Rowley, the band and choral groups were delightful.  Thank you for an amazing line up of songs; they were perfect for dancing!  Ticket sales totaled $1,877 and with the added bake & pizza sales, the event raised over $2,000.  $1,485 was from pre-sold tickets, 80% of which went to those students' individual accounts.

A HUGE thank you goes out to all the folks and students that volunteered on Friday night.  Set-up went smoothly and the decorations were delightful.  We had plenty of folks to help with the ticket, pizza and bake sales.  Sound equipment put away and general clean-up was completed by 9:30!

Also if you see her, give Terry DeLeonardis a huge thank you, as she volunteered and does not even have a music student in the program!  She helped bring the FREE student dance lessons to the high school and secured our instructors for the event on Friday night.  She is hopeful the students will take on the startup of a Swing Dance Club and have the Dance It! instructors back.  Up to 50 students showed up for each FREE dance lesson over the past two weeks and were led by two very inspirational instructors.  If your student (or you) are interested in becoming a better swing dancer, Northwest Dance Network (sponsor of Dance It!), welcomes teens to all local classes and dances.  Check out their website at www.nwdance.net
